PokeNuzlocke has no accounts and sets no cookies. What is stored is described below in full.
In your browser
Your daily results, your streak and your timer setting are kept in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device, and the server never sees them. Clearing your browser data deletes them; there is no copy anywhere else, which is also why your streak does not follow you to another device.
On the server
When you finish a daily puzzle, one number is counted: how many of the three positions you held. That is the whole record — no identifier, no timestamp, no IP address, no moves. It exists so the result screen can say how today’s players did as a group, and it cannot be traced back to anyone, including you. Replays are not counted at all.
The web server keeps standard logs — IP address, time, requested address, browser identification — for operation and security. They are deleted after 14 days. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, legitimate interest in operating the service.
Hosting
Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The machine stands in Helsinki, Finland — inside the EU, so no transfer to a third country is involved. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is in place.
Delivery network
Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, sits in front of this site. It terminates the encrypted connection, filters attacks and serves the unchanging files. Every request therefore passes through Cloudflare, including your IP address.
Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and the data processing agreement includes the EU standard contractual clauses. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, legitimate interest in a site that stays reachable and loads quickly.
Other servers your browser contacts
Pokémon sprites are loaded from
play.pokemonshowdown.com. Your browser contacts that server
directly, which means it receives your IP address. Apart from the two named
above, this is the only host involved in loading the page.
Fonts are served from this domain, not from Google. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no social plugins.
Advertising
Advertising is switched off at the moment: no ad script is loaded and no ad cookie is set. This section describes what will happen once it is switched on, so that you can read it before it affects you.
The provider will be Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google sets cookies, reads your IP address, your browser identification and the pages you visit here, and uses them to select and measure ads. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Nothing of that happens without your consent. You will be asked first, and the script is only loaded after you have agreed — declining costs you nothing, because the puzzles are identical either way. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR together with § 25 (1) TDDDG. Your decision is stored in your browser and can be changed at any time through Advertising settings in the footer; withdrawing takes effect immediately and reloads the page so that any script already running is gone.
The site itself carries a verification tag for Google, which is a plain marker in the page source. It transfers nothing and loads nothing.
Your rights
You have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Since the site stores no personal data beyond server logs, most of these have nothing to act on — write to the contact address above and we will tell you exactly what exists.
You may also complain to a supervisory authority. The one responsible here is the Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, Kavalleriestr. 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf, Germany.
